Press Release

Happy Pi Day; Xojo Pi Licenses Are Now Free Today And Everyday

AUSTIN, Texas, USA (March 14, 2018) — Xojo, Inc. the company that makes Xojo, a cross-platform development tool for developing native apps for the desktop, web, iOS and Raspberry Pi, announced that in honor of Pi Day 2018, Xojo Pi licenses will be free, today and every day. Xojo Pi licenses allow you to build console apps for Linux ARM for use with Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 3.

A Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that can be used when a typical PC is overkill, such as in robotics or with embedded systems. It’s a great learning tool, and since it’s a fully functional computer, it can be used to interface and control other things. With Xojo, you can create apps for your Raspberry Pi all from a slick integrated development environment. Plus, Xojo is cross-platform and multi-platform, so your apps can also easily work on Windows, macOS, Linux and the web. Creating a Raspberry Pi app is no different than creating an app for other targets, so you'll be ready to develop desktop, mobile or web apps whenever you want!

“Back in 2015 at the Xojo Developer Conference when we announced Xojo would be adding support for the Raspberry Pi, we thought it was a fun extra for Xojo users,” commented Geoff Perlman, Xojo Founder and CEO. “We were not expecting the overwhelming excitement and interest from the Xojo community and makers around the world! To celebrate Pi Day we’re making Xojo Pi licenses free from Pi Day forward!”

Xojo offers a Programming the Raspberry Pi With Xojo ebook that teaches everything from setting up the Raspberry Pi to programming it with Xojo and remote debugging, and includes numerous example projects. The text book is available free here: Programming the Raspberry Pi with Xojo.
